When it cracked like a thunder cloud...
Utica - another one of those wonderful older cities the Dead used to frequent in Upstate N.Y.
Just inside the Shakedown-Jerry's lyrics somewhat strained but in an cool way, almost plaintive in his delivery.
Nice well developed jam here for Shakedown. Definitely the Dead at their funkiest when doing SHAKEDOWN.
They don't actually technically jam into Minglewood but there is no pause so it qualifies
"These upstate girls
start looking good"
I used to sing Minglewood from time to time it is a fun tune- the lyrics and song structure are more developed with the NEW MINGLEWOOD.
Still something about that original version
"If you don't believe in me
Make it hard to believe in you
we all need each other
You know it's true"
Partial 1st set so I just went with 4 stars.
Yet the sound and music here is EXCELLENT!
Cassidy very nice
Always felt this is one of the better tunes
from the Brent era.
Here it has a mellow feel , Garcia very expressive with the lyrics
